Made from purple swirl acrylic turned down to the appropriate sizes by hand and then sanded with several grades of abrasive cloth until smooth. It is then sanded with fine wet/dry paper before being polished with T-Cut. The purple body is complimented by the  highly polished gold plated fittings.  What a perfect gift idea!

The design criteria was for an eye catching  fountain pen using purple materials as this is her favourite colour.

Inspiration for this design came from 1930/40’s movies. The design is big, bold & very eye-catching.

The body is made from a purple swirl pattern acrylic blank. The accent rings and banding are from cast metal which has then been plated with hard wearing black titanium.

The two-tone nib is made from 14ct Gold with engraved decoration made in Germany by Schmidt Technology (a world leading nib manufacturer),whilst the rhodium-plated clip includes a sparkling Swarovski clear crystal again adding to the opulent appearance of this writing instrument

The pen begins life as an acrylic blank which I hand-turn on my wood lathe. Once the correct dimensions are achieved the blanks are sanded up to 7 times with ever decreasing grades of abrasive until the surface is mirror smooth.

Next a burnishing compound is applied to the surface and buffed to the ultimate finish

Each pen is individually hand assembled taking care to ensure that every component fits correctly.

One of my favourite pens, its big brash and makes a statement!

This particular pen made from attractive purple swirl pattern acrylic.

The material blank is the cut to make the two parts of the pen body. These two blanks are then turned on a wood lathe to the required diameters to fit the 22ct gold plated fittings.

Once the shape has be completed they are sanded smooth using several grades of wet & dry abrasive paper finishing with 1600 grit. Micromesh abrasive is then used in various grade ending up with 12000 grit. Finally 3 coats of hardwearing polish are applied whilst the lathe is spinning and is then buffer to a high gloss. After leaving to stand overnight a coat of hard Carnuba wax is applied before a final polish. Once complete the various components are assembled using a ‘Parker Mini’ type refill.

The writing tip is extended by twisting the upper and lower body halves, then the opposite rotation to retract for safety. To replace the refill the upper and lower body parts are carefully pulled apart to allow the refill to be removed.

It was made using a predominantly purple swirl pattern acrylic blank. The swirling colours create this interesting and eye catching effect.

The metal fittings are a  combination od satin and highly polished chrome with and attractive chrome and black decorative band around the body.

A black Parker type refill is fitted as standard, but can easy be changed by carefully pulling  the lower metal section from the coloured part of the pen. The metal twist mechanism is then unscrewed to reveal the refill.

This standard refill can be purchased at most stationary stores.
